NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse comments from other people destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always strives to improve.

Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
