NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and a continuing love for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
