NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse comments from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
