Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from other people destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.
He started playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He states that he is learning every day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
