Freeroll poker tournaments are every day events that happen on a lot of the greatest net poker rooms. Freerolls are greatly enjoyed by the poker betting community as they offer the poker competitors the chance to gain some bona fide money without losing any. The buyin to these freerolls is – like their titles suggests – free and prize cash can vary from a few dollars for finishing near the top to hundreds of dollars for winning the big freeroll holdem poker tournaments.
So how come the poker websites have freerolls? Is it because of their incredibly altruistic nature and the fact that they acquire massive sums of cash so they feel a moral accountability to give some of it back?

No certainly it isn’t, the basis that the huge poker websites provide free tournaments is to draw folks to their poker site.
Here’s the idea boiled down – You hear that a site has an amazing freeroll, it charges you nada to participate in and you can come away with one hundred dollars. You think "fantastic!" and you go along to the poker room and get registered as a member so you can participate in the freeroll. You play and finish quickly and are annoyed because you believe you should have done much better, or you go close to winning and so you are wanting even more play. What do you do? You spend some $$$$ at the poker site and participate in a different poker game!
Always investigate the free tournaments for payout constraints, you’ll almost always need to participate in a few hands for real money before they let you take the winnings out. Often this is on a one to one basis, so if you acquire $20 at the free poker tournament you’ll have to have bet for twenty dollars in bona fide $$$$ in order for you to be able to remove the cash.
